1. At the time the page was originally written, there were.no suppliers of commercially practical protein patties.  Partly due to these pages, interest has grown and now there are several.  Mann Lake®, Dadant®, and Global Patties® all make commercially successful patties.

2. My strong preference is for Global Patties, since they are the lowest cost, are not a secret formula, and are produced by a family business.  I'm biased, though, since I helped Global get set up.  They custom made patties for me and my friends initially before they started selling to everyone, and I still consult for them on technical issues and promotion.  Plus, they are my very good friends.  Nonetheless, ask around.  I think you will find that Global has a sterling reputation.

We had tried several other alternatives, but found that making patties in-house or using the Hutterites' help was a huge and continuing management and quality control problem.

Global Patties are simply what is described on these pages, made commercially with fresh, high-quality, proven ingredients that many beekeepers would have trouble sourcing themselves, and using the right ingredients is critical.  Due to high volume of sales and careful management of the supply and distribution chain, Global Patties are always fresh when delivered.

Also, in practical tests against BeePro®, FeedBee®, MegaBee® and others, Global Patties seem to work as well or better.  They are well accepted by the bees, don't spoil, maintain their consistency, and produce as much brood as the alternatives for much less money.
