The Book Of Negros by Lawrence Hill

Unread post by Colino »

I just finished "The Book Of Negros " by Lawrence Hill. Although it's not a nonfictional story there is enough fact to make it a good read. It gives an insight into how barbaric people can be to others.

I don't need to read a book to know that. I just need to turn the news on and off quickly.

Perhaps I was too hasty in my posting and did not do justice to the book, there is so much more, for example how wide spread slavery was, slavery on Canadian soil, the immensity of the numbers of people kidnapped out of Africa.

What is often conveniently forgotten as various groups compete for attention and sympathy for how they were treated in the past is that we all, with no exceptions, are descended from slaves and persecuted groups.

We also try to ignore the behaviours of armies in all wars without exception, including wars we consider justified and which we glorify.
