The spring of 2003 was a scary one for me. About 70% of my bees had severe chalkbrood. Usually if I get the bees on a good honeyflow the chalkbrood will clean up. But The past year it was severe. Did anyone else have problems.
I did until I figured out how to control Varroa mites. I think it may be one of those diseases that Varroa contributes to by weakening the hive. Another big beekeeper told me that his problem was genetic, and by buying commercial queens his problem was solved.
