Ozone science

Unread post by ozonetech »

Hi,
I am involved in science around ozone technologies.
I have read alot of talk about ozone generators suggesting getting a spa pool unit from the net. Ozone is a complicated subject. These types of ozone generators are not suitable for this purpose hence so many poor results. Ozone is a science it self. Factors that effect this: type of generator, airfed or oxygen, humidity, temperature, airflow, size and monitoring of levels as organics oxidise ozone so you need to have an abundance.
From our scientific work around ozone for fumigation we can fumigate to treat bacteria in pollen ranging upto full fumigation for export killing any living animal. Concentration vs time is the key and every application has a required specific concentration. Accurate ozone sensors are vital to qualify you are actually achieving levels you are targeting.
We are looking at carrying out scientific testing on hives while the bees are in the hive.

For those interested in the use of ozone in beekeeping, references to previous mentions of ozone in the diary are here: http://www.honeybeeworld.com/searchresu ... 5j698259j5

Additionally, there is an ozone forum thread here: viewtopic.php?t=223

These discussions have been about fumigating combs, not introducing ozone into living colonies.
