Extracting

Unread post by Vance G »

I spun out about a barrel today but not having a barrel it is in my 35 gallon settling tank and buckets. I still have 15 medium supers and a deep left. The stuff I got today was from my dried out yard and the honey was so low moisture it just sat clinging to the cells like glue! I bet I am leaving an extra five pounds a box, maybe more. Wonderful honey but for the number of bees should have been a lot more. I need to finish up tomorrow or the next day because then heating the shop gets to be more of a problem. Temperature is supposed to drop to fifties and hopefully rain. Now that I have freshly extracted frames, I will be able to swap out any foundation in my nucs that the bees are so reluctant to draw out this late. Should have no problem getting them to fill these extracted frames with syrup. Huge harvest moon tonight.
