Experience With Buying Drawn Comb

Unread post by Vance G »

I bought some old black comb that was saturated with AFB and virtually all the colonies put in it became symptomatic of AFB and it was TM resistant. A friend who bought the extracting supers that had apparently been run over excluders and has had no problem with them. This is anecdotal but I think the risk is much less.

I just went to help a hobbyist inspect packages he hived the first of May and two out of three have AFB and where did it come from in the three years he has had bees? From nucs he bought last year that winter killed or out foraging. I treated them with tylan and will help him watch them.
