I have edited the original post since the original information and link was obsolete after the upgrade today.
---

You can change the appearance of this forum significantly from your User Control Panel at ucp.php?i=165. (When logged in)

There are four styles installed currently for you to choose from. That is all that are available for the upgraded forum so far.

If you go to ucp.php?i=165 You should see a drop-down box with four options. Try each one by selecting it and pressing "Submit".

Also, in your user control panel, you can change the image beside your name in posts. Go to Edit Avatar and either upload a picture from your own computer (max 80 pixels by 80 pixels and 6 KiB) or choose from the images in the library..

See the first post in the thread above again.

I have altered it to reflect the realities of the upgraded forum. One of the options should work for you, I hope.

Let me know if you still have problems.

Yes that links works.

I changed my skin to SE square left, it looks best with my widescreen monitor. The other was very narrow, could be best for a smaller device like a cell phone. It is easy to change so it can be changed according to your device at that time.

Interesting. I prefer narrow columns since they are easier to read or skim without having to scan wide lines and without the risk of losing place and skipping or re-reading lines. That is one reason I use a narrow column in the diary. Newspapers also use narrow columns for the same reason although they are less efficient for cramming words into a page.

I am not currently on a really wide monitor like at home, but prosilver special edition which is the default right now uses the centre half and leaves two inches on either side.

The other available skins are too wide for my tastes, but everyone is different and that is why I offer a number of skin choices, and I'll add more skins as they become available.

Currently of the people who have tried several skins at ucp.php?i=165, the preference is 14:1 for the default, which happens to be the only narrow skin available now.

We'll see how many decide to change in the next while.

I make my web sites with narrow lines for easy reading but my eyes like long lines. I loose my place more often if I have to jump my eyes around a lot. It is a good thing there are choices being we are all different.

Actually the default skin here is wider than I prefer for quick reading. I'd prefer even narrower.
