Of Mice and Men

We discussed mice on another thread and it brought back a memory. I was called out to repair an air-conditioner that had stopped working. It was on an acreage 5 miles from the city. When I removed the cover on the outside condenser unit I found it full of fried mice a couple inches deep piled around the compressor. The majority of the wires had been chewed clear of plastic insulation but none of them were touching anything to go to ground so there was no short circuit. Over the years mice had entered the unit and been electrocuted without blowing the main breaker. It wasn't until one had finally caused 2 wires to touch that the breaker blew and I was called out to check the problem. There were no cell phones in those days so I didn't get a photo of the carnage but it would have made a great conversation piece.
