Saturday November 24th, 2001 We met up with Bill, Faye, and Myra at the market, then Bill and I went to the Black Cat Too cafe for a ham radio coffee clache. After that, we then had a burger and went back to his place to take a hike in the hills. The ladies were at Faye's mom's visiting. Weather is mild and pleasant here. The rest came over by supper time and we all had a good visit well into the evening. It rained heavily all night.
Friday November 23rd, 2001 We spent a quiet day with one excursion to Chapters, then celebrated American
Thanksgiving supper at Mom's, c/w turkey.
Thursday November 22nd, 2001 At midnight MST, we boarded the flight. Four hours later, at 6:20 EST, we were standing at the curb waiting for our rental car at Pearson. We had a quick breakfast and then started up the 400. We found we were a bit tired, so we stopped to nap at a roadside stop. Mom called to find out where we were, then Jon called. He and Sarah had crossed at the Thousand Islands border point and stayed the night on the Canadian side. He expected to be in Sudbury by four or so. Jon, Sarah, and Katrina arrived at about six. It was a good thing we had decided to have the turkey on Friday -- just in case things got held up. Otherwise there would have been much anxiety. The route they had chosen was the shortest one, but slow compared to the freeways.
Wednesday November 21st, 2001 This was one of those days. We spent it getting ready for our trip and getting the guys ready to take care of the place, since they will be here taking care of everything while we are gone. We left for the airport at about nine.

I drove up to Edmonton today to get some lumber and to look at some boilers. we need wood to make lids, since our lids are getting pretty old and we want to get an insulated lid on every hive. We'd also like to get rid of the bricks. This job should provide unsupervised work for Paulo and Dennis over winter.
I had planned to buy trim ends, but found some boards that suited my purpose for a good price. The boilers turned out to be away too heavy duty for what I had in mind.
Monday November 19th, 2001 It's cool and overcast this morning with a breeze. Paulo is out moving and checking yards. Dennis has the week off. I'm working on lining up material for building lids and also lining up a new boiler.
Low minus 12. High zero. << Previous Page Next Page >>
