Tuesday September 11th, 2001, 2000

As I passed through the honey house, I was told that someone had flown an aircraft had hit the World Trade Center.  As events unfolded, I became very glad I had returned home Monday night and not Tuesday as I usually do.  If I had  been scheduled for Tuesday, I would not have had an easy time getting home.  Since Vancouver was an airport that accepted the incoming US flights from overseas that were diverted away from the USA for security reasons, the airport was plugged for several days starting Tuesday morning and all outbound flights were cancelled.

We continue to remove supers and extract.  I finally decided to re-install Windows from scratch and managed to get some access to my files, but most of my software will have to be re-installed.

Mainly cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers. Wind east 20 km/h in the afternoon. High 11.
Mainly cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers. Wind diminishing to light in the evening. Low 5.

Working on the carbI awoke, had breakfast, then rode along with Eric on some errands.  We then went down to his new boat, a 25.5 foot Bayliner (much like John's) and went for a ride.  He had installed a new carb and we had some problems.  He called in the mechanic who had rebuilt the carb and it seems the choke spring, which had been  replaced was somehow was working backwards: there was no choke when cold and full choke when hot.

We fooled around for a while and got it fixed.  This put me a bit behind my schedule, but I caught the 4 PM ferry and got to Ron's in time to be driven to the airport.  I caught my 8:15 flight to Calgary and was home by 11:30.

Cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers. Low 3. High 22.

Sunday September 9th, 2001, 2000

After breakfast with Bruce, I caught the noon ferry for Victoria.  Around two, I was near Eric's and called, but got a message, so I continued on to Victoria and spent the afternoon at Beacon Hill Park.  Eric called and after supper with Gillian and Vince, I was off to see Eric and Marnie.

Mainly sunny in the morning. Becoming cloudy late in the afternoon. Wind light. High 16.
