Helllo All, This is an interesting disscussion and as usual I thought I'd make a comment or two. Regarding sesonal variations in nosema levels, I have no personal data but there is a very nice graph in Morses disease book. The article is by Furgala. It shows nosema levels r=peaking in mid summer.

On the question of repeatabiliy you may want to check out the work of G. Cantwell, probably available from Beltsville. This is the standard method. The copy I have was in ABJ, theres probably a more elaborate version with all thestats ect. And Besville has has a booklet on Lab Diagnosis. Another interesting method is that of Malone et al JAP 32 1993. He uses a centrafuge- no microscope neccesary.
