Chris and I went to Nakiska and met up with his roommate from university, also named Chris, for an afternoon of skiing and boarding.  Chris' knee is still sore from Christmas, so we quit a bit early.

We stopped at the Ghost Dam on the way back and had a chance to examine a high performance iceboat up close.

We had supper at home, then the Orams left for Ponoka.

Ellen and I spent the day preparing letters to mail to beekeepers advertising our remaining hives.  She's pretty serious about selling out.

I have a lot of things to do in the next two days.  Joe and I are going to Baton Rouge Monday morning.

There's lots of snow in the mountains now, and the weather is mild, but I have no time for snowboarding until after I get back.

Joe and Oene came for supper.

I definitely am not 100% today.  My throat is dry and my voice is a bit hoarse. I'm also tired.  I remember that Ellen slept a lot last week.  I'm hoping that rest and low stress will make it pass quickly.  Low stress?  I only have to pack and get all the last minute things done.

We got up at 3AM, had breakfast and drove to the airport. Ellen dropped us off, then Joe and I were off to Dallas in a M-80. At DFW, we caught a connector flight to Baton Rouge in a little SAAB turboprop. The hotel picked us up and by four we checked into the Richmond Suites. The digs were nice and breakfast and supper was included. We were both tired and called it a day.

In the morning, my throat was a bit rough and I was tired. After a hot shower, I felt a bit better and we decided to look around a bit. The hotel shuttle took us to The Rural Life Museum and we spent a few hours there soaking up the local history.

The RLM is different from other such museums I've been to lately. There are plaques and tags on many of the items and the buildings, but for the most part, the buildings and artifacts are just sitting there open. Documents and implements are unprotected and can be touched and handled. Some items are protected by glass or  by structures, but the greater portion of it is unrestricted and unexplained beyond basic facts. The exhibits are not 'interpreted' or tarted up. I like this. The whole place is like a puzzle; the opinions and judgments of the curators don't intrude on the meditations of visitors. Some parts of the historic buildings are repaired and it is a bit odd to see modern nails and pressure treated wood in parts of a century-old building, but honest.

We returned to the hotel and rested up.  I had a chance to catch up on a few things.  Later, we had supper, went to the opening reception, then back to the hotel.  My own virus checker, AVG, hadn't shown anything lately and I had received a worrisome fw message from my daughter with a file, promodll.dll and a jpg attached, so I decided to try a few alternate virus scans and went to McAfee.com - FreeScan, Trend Micro - Free online virus Scan, and Freedom Online Virus Check, One gave me a clean bill of health, the next (McAfee) showed the JS/Noclose and the Freedom gave me this:
